Q&A: Florida Georgia Line cruises into Country USA

Country music duo Florida Georgia Line is on fire.

The fresh-faced twenty-something combo of Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard has sold more than 14 million tracks worldwide with nearly have of those sales attributed to "Cruise," which is now the best-selling digital country single of all time, according to SoundScan. Still riding on the strength of other platinum hits such as "Stay," "Get Your Shine On," "Round Here" and the most recent, "This Is How We Roll," Florida Georgia Line has, almost overnight, become one of the hottest acts on the country music scene.

The southern boys Kelley from Florida and Hubbard from Georgia have appeared on everything from "Good Morning, America" to "The Voice" and took home a truckload of music industry hardware over the past year. Then there's the duo's undeniable crossover appeal. Remixes of "Cruise" featuring Nelly and "This Is How We Roll" featuring Jason Derulo landed them on pop radio.

Currently featured as special guests on Jason Aldean's "Burn it Down" tour through October, Florida Georgia Line is taking a detour to headline Country USA in Oshkosh Friday night.

P-C: When you were first co-writing songs for "Here's to the Good Times," did you think this album would change the landscape of country music?

Kelley: No, man. We weren't in the studio trying to do that. We were just trying to make great music that we thought our fans would love and that they'd want to share and play on their boat, on their way to work, play anywhere, man. It's just kind of a lifestyle record. At the time, no we didn't know that. We just knew we were making something special and creating magic with Joey Moi, our producer. Every time we got in the studio and laid a track down, it was goose bump city. We're in the middle of record two right now and it's the same thing. It feels even better than last time.

FGL TO START CLOTHING LINE

Taste of Country
Florida Georgia Line Working on Their Own Clothing Line

Florida Georgia Line have proven time and again that they're committed to country music fame, and the fans seem to agree. In fact, the duo is so popular these days that one of their oft-used hashtags has gone viral! So, they're turning it into a clothing line.

That's right - Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard are working with the fashion world. The duo's popular #cantaffordnotto has gotten attention from many, and as Hubbard explains, "That's just a saying that we've all said... BK and myself and kind of our whole camp and crew... It just became a popular saying among our friends."

Instead of just watching it eventually die out, FGL are putting Can't Afford Not To on clothes tags.

"We're going to start a website," says Hubbard. "We're going to start a clothing line, Can't Afford Not To. It's just become a cool thing, one of those sayings that keeps coming up. So we'll see what happens with it."

While it's unclear what type of clothing or website FGL plan to launch, their success so far points to the high likelihood that it will be another smash hit for the two singers.

In addition to their entrepreneurial endeavors, the country pair is also working on a new album, which is expected to drop in October. It will be their sophomore, the follow-up to the massively successful debut 'Here's to the Good Times.'

Do you think they will have male AND female clothes?
